Qutb minar
This partially ruined building complex includes Delhi's first congregational mosque (Jami masjid), known today as the Might of Islam (Quwwat al-Islam). The mosque was founded upon the conquest of the northern Indian region by the commander, Qutb al-Din Aybak of the Ghurid ruler Muhammad ibn Sam. On the southeast corner of the original hypostyle mosque stands the minaret, the Qutb Minar, begun by Qutb al-Din Aybak and modelled after so-called victory towers of Ghazna and Jam (Afghanistan).
