Architecture and City Planning
One of two sphinxes that sit at the entrance of the temple.
The Sphinxes were cast in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, by the Federal-Seaboard Terra Cotta Company (closed in 1968). Each sphinx is 10 ft long and weighs 4,000 pounds. The El Paso Scottish Rite Temple was the first to have sphinxes. They are the largest single-cast Terra Cotta sculptures in the world.
